Hi everyone. My username is Simstatic and I am a very young 53 years. I am from South Africa and have been playing the Sims since Sims 1. I have Sims 1, 2 and 3 and all expansion packs for Sims 3 except Generations.

I do not create but I love downloading all the beautiful creations that are available from so many talented people.

I cannot remember where I found you but it was on a Sims 3 website that linked to your site.

I am sorry I did not know that you had to be French speaking to join. I am English (from South Africa) and cannot speak or understand French at all although I think it is a beautiful language and one that I would have loved to have been able to speak.

The only way I can speak French on the forum is to write my message and then use Google Translator to translate it.

I have translated what I have just written, please tell me if it is ok.

La seule façon que je peux parler français sur le forum est d'écrire mon message et ensuite utiliser Google Translator pour le traduire.

No, you don't have to speak french to be here, but it is better. Some members like Pomme-kiwi (an administrator) speak English very well, and some others are from Quebec, maybe they also speak English and can understand you very well.

The translation is ... not very good, but I think if you translate simple sentences, it can work

You should say : Merci tout le monde ! Vous me faîtes me sentir la bienvenue (à l'aise).

There are a lot of English forums about the Sims...Why choosing a French one ?

I originally came here because I clicked on a download link and downloaded something and forgot to save pictures of the download for future reference and when I came back I could not get onto the site unless I registered. I could not even download anything.

I thought that The Sims was an international game and not exclusive. I also believe that it is nice to interact with people from other countries and yes there are a lot of English forums as you say and they have a lot of French speaking members on them as well as people from other countries on there as well who are not disqualified because they are French or another language. The best way to learn a language in my opinion is to interact with the people who speak the language.

Having said this, I must say that I am feeling rather unwelcome at the moment and as it is really such a problem then I will cancel my membership with the site as I do not want to be (or cause) any trouble and certainly do not want to be on a forum where I feel that I am not really wanted and just being tolerated.

I am a member of Russian, German, Chinese sites and not once have I been asked why I am joining their site because I am English so this is rather strange for me and I am quite saddened by it. People have always told me that the French do not like English people and I always chose to not believe it as here in South Africa we welcome our French immigrants with open arms and make them feel welcome in a country where the languages are very foreign to them and I have friends here who are French and whom I found to be very likeable. However now I feel that maybe what the people are saying is true.

I am not angry so please don't think I am, I am just very sad and confused.
